Assistant Coach, Fritz Homans

Fritz started his swimming career with the Bangor Y and was Maine State Y Champ and record holder in the butterfly events at ages 10, 12, 14, & 15.  

Captain at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, MA Fritz was an 8 time All American and held 5 New England Prep records upon graduation. He placed 13th in the 100 meter butterfly in the 1976 Olympic Trials and qualified for the 1980 trials.  

Fritz competed in 10 AAU ( US Swimming) Nationals from 1974 to 1980. and swam at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an NCAA All American and co-captain for 2 years.  

He was co-captain of the 1979 US Olympic Committee Elite Training Camp at Colorado Springs, Co. and also swam on SSG-Erlangen, in Erlangen, Germany in 1984 and 1985 and competed and placed in German National Team Championships for 2 years.  

Fritz became a masters swimmer and coach in Coronado, Ca in the late 1980's and is a current Maine Masters swimmer.  This is his second season with the Sailfish.  He is the father of Sailfish swimmers Hannah and Harrison Homans.
